(1983) THE S.A.F. POND-M.U.R. SCHOLARSHIP
Original Amount of Fund: $5,000

Donor: Samuel Austin Frank Pond. The scholarship is open for award annually by the Council to a student who is an active member of the Melbourne University Regiment being one of a number of eligible students who apply for the award and are nominated by the Commanding Officer of the Regiment who in making nominations must take into account the academic attainments of the student, and his or her financial needs. The value of the scholarship is the net annual income of the fund. The donor died on 26 January 1986 and bequeathed to the University the sum of $5,000 to augment the fund which sum the University received on the expiry of a life interest on 14 February 1990. In 2003 a further sum of $430 was contributed to the fund by donors associated with Melbourne University Regiment
